HOLY QURAN IS A SACRED BOOK

holy-quran-sacred-bookThe Holy Quran is the sacred book which Muslims recite and turn to for the guidance in all aspects of their life. It is the final testament in a series of divine revelations from ALLAH Almighty. It comprises the unaltered and direct words of ALLAH Almighty, revealed through the Angel Harat Jibraeel (AS), to the final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) 1400 years ago.

Islam is a continuation of the teachings of preceding Prophets, such as Hazrat Noah (AS), Hazrat Ibraheem (AS), Hazrat Moosa (AS) and Hazrat Esa (AS) etc, some of whom were also given divine books. Muslims believe that the main message brought by all Prophets was the similar; to believe in One ALLAH Almighty and not to associate partners with Him, to stay away from all kind of sins and to lead a life devoted to earning pleasure of ALLAH Almighty.

All Prophets taught about life after death and gave cheerful tidings of paradise for those who obey ALLAH Almighty, but warned of punishment in dozakh for those who select to disobey Him. The Holy Quran’s message is everlasting and universal, transcending our differences in race, colour, traditions and nationality. It provides guidance on each and every aspect of human life from economics and the ethics of trade to wedding, divorce, gender issues, inheritance and parenting.

The Holy Quran is unique because it is the only revealed sacred book that exists in the present day in the precise form and content in which it was initially revealed. In addition, it was recorded during the time the religion was being established.

The distinctive approach of the Holy Quran is that its religious message includes practical injunctions aimed at the common welfare of human beings, community and the environment in which we live. The Quran describes signs of the existence of ALLAH Almighty in the universe and how all the things are carefully placed in the total scheme of creation. The Holy Quran has been preserved for over 1400 years through parallel writings and memorization.

Verse 15:9 of Holy Quran,

Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) could not read or write, so as soon as a portion of the Holy Quran was revealed, He called upon His scribes to record the revealed sacred text. The Prophet (peace be upon him) specified the part of the Holy Quran the revelation belonged to and had the companions read back what was written to make sure that it corresponded accurately with what was revealed.

Verse 2:185 of Holy Quran,

The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. ALLAH intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify ALLAH for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.

THE HOLY QURAN AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF KNOWLEDGE

holy-quranThere are ample of references to knowledge and the pursuit of knowledge in the Holy Quran. The general feeling it leave the reader with is that the possessor of knowledge or wisdom has been given a very influential gift, and that the hunt of knowledge is something which must be done actively by everyone because knowledge is wisdom.

Verse 96:1-5 of Holy Quran

Recite in the name of your Lord who created – Created man from a clinging substance. Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous – Who taught by the pen – Taught man that which he knew not.

These five verses make up the primary passage revealed from the Holy Quran to mankind through the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Verse 2:269 of Holy Quran,

He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except those of understanding.

 Verse 41:53 of Holy Quran,

We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?

Though, almost every verse in the Holy Quran carries a universal and a historical meaning, and thus one possible interpretation of this verse (ayat) is that it refers to the slow discovery of greater and greater natural “evidence” in world. Two of the most significant and most fascinating goals of modern science are to gaze farther and farther out to the edge of the earth, and to look deeper and deeper into the formation of the human body.

Verse 58:11 of Holy Quran,

O you who have believed, when you are told, “Space yourselves” in assemblies, then make space; ALLAH will make space for you. And when you are told, “Arise,” then arise; ALLAH will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And ALLAH is Acquainted with what you do.

The initial source of Islam is the Holy Quran and we have seen some verses above on the topic of knowledge. The second source is the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). There are also references in the Holy Quran describing the value of a knowledgeable person as compare to an ignorant person. They both are not equal.

Verse 39:9 of Holy Quran,

Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, “Are those who know equal to those who do not know?” Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.

THE TEACHINGS OF RELIGION ISLAM (PART) 1

religion-islamIslam teaches that human beings are born sinless and pure. No one is responsible for, or can take blame for the sins of others. The doors of forgiveness are always open for those who apologize sincerely. ALLAH Almighty continuously reminds us in the Holy Quran of His infinite mercy and sympathy. Muslims are enjoined to preserve inner spiritual cleanliness through constant remembrance and prayer to ALLAH Almighty.

Islam balances the spiritual dimension by emphasizing human duties. Human beings are created with a reason. Attainment of piety is but one dimension of such reason; playing an active role in the creation of a just humanity is another. Because Muslims attach significance to what happens in this world, they have made considerable contributions to the development of science, medicine, mathematics, astronomy, geography, physics and literature.

Muslims like Avicenna and Averroes have played major roles in the development of science in the West. The initial university in the world was established by Imam Jafar Al-Sadiq in Madina, Saudi Arabia. Many critical systems such as the Arabic numerals, algebra, the initial map of the world and navigational maps were developed by Muslims and adopted by the medieval Europeans.

Apart from human duty, Islam also teaches human accountability. The last destination of human beings is the hereafter. It is believe of Muslims that, at the end of time, all human beings will be resurrected to account for their acts and deeds. Those who have performed virtuous deeds will be rewarded with everlasting bliss in heaven (jannat) and those who have performed evil acts will be punished in hell (jahannum).

 Islam and War:-
The concept of jihad (wrongly translated as holy war) refers to the responsibility of Muslims to struggle for their belief and the welfare of the Muslim society. The Holy Quran does not allow aggression against anyone and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) spread His message in a peaceful manner. Warfare is allowed only in self-defence. Though, it should be noted that people only resort to violence when their fundamental human rights are violated and when all attempts at non-violent settlement are thwarted.

 Islam and Human Rights:-
Islam teaches that human beings have an ethical obligation to live in harmony with one another. Islam also recognizes and accords rights to all human beings regardless of race, color or creed. Islam requires its followers to show tolerance and respect even to those who do not share their belief.

Freedom of sense of right and wrong is guaranteed by the Holy Quran itself. It states in verse 2:256 of Holy Quran,

There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in ALLAH has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And ALLAH is Hearing and Knowing.

GET BENEFITS BY RECITING HOLY QURAN

holy-quranALLAH Almighty has praised His Noble Book and explained its beauties in more than one verses or Ayah; ALLAH Almighty says in verse 6:92,

And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are maintaining their prayers.

Verse 13:1 of Holy Quran,

Alif, Lam, Meem, Ra. These are the verses of the Book; and what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, but most of the people do not believe.

And how ALLAH Almighty made the mercy of the Noble Quran exclusively for the Muslims, and how ALLAH Almighty made attaining mercy depend mostly upon listening and being silent (while listening to Holy Quran). Actually, if the believer adheres to that strongly, then surely he will get the pity of it.

Having belief is not a enough condition to get the full benefits of the

Holy Quran. The believer must dedicate himself, besides believing in it, to reciting, reflecting, listening and acting upon it and adhering to its rulings. If a person has only believed in it and then discarded it as the people of the Scripture has done with their books, then what advantages would the slave hope from that?

And how they advised each other not to pay attention to it, make noise in the midst of its (recitation of holy Quran), not pondering over whatever therein, and thus, they deserved the strict torment. Furthermore, think carefully in the verse in which ALLAH Almighty says in verse 7:203-204,

And when you, [O Muhammad], do not bring them a sign, they say, “Why have you not contrived it?” Say, “I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This [Qur’an] is enlightenment from your Lord and guidance and mercy for a people who believe.”

So when the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy.

Verse 25:30 of Holy Quran,

And the Messenger has said, “O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’an as [a thing] abandoned.”

The Holy Quran is the 4th and the Last Sacred Book of ALLAH Almighty that He revealed upon His Last Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It not only approves the preceding Heavenly Manuscripts of the

ALLAH Almighty and His Prophets, but also provides an absolute guideline and direction for living a successful life here and in the hereafter. Muslims all over the globe recite and understand Holy Quran as a religious responsibility and seek assistance from it. The Creator of the world of the worlds says concerning the matter of understanding the Instructions present in Holy Quran verse 7:204,

So when the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy.
